1/2 lb and 2 lb Spray Foam

For over 50 years spray foam insulation has been used as a specialty product in the residential building industry. It is considered to be a safer, more effective alternative to fiberglass and cellulose insulation.

Today's technology allows us to spray apply foam insulation at very reasonable price points and architects and designers are increasingly recognizing its unique energy efficiency and insulation benefits. Spray foam insulation also helps maintain excellent Indoor air quality, decrease noise pollution, and improve the overall indoor environment.

Spray polyurethane foam, or SPF, is a sprayed-in-place foam insulation installed as a liquid and then expands to fill voids and spaces. Spray foam formulas can also be tweaked to provide different physical properties depending on the desired use.

Providing Superior results

State-of-the-art, spray-in-place soft foam insulation is revolutionizing the residential and commercial building industries because it is a complete insulation and air barrier system that very effectively seals walls, floors, and ceiling cavities against air movement. It also effectively insulates the spaces around outlets, fixtures, baseboards, and where windows and doors meet walls.

Although spray foam materials may cost more than traditional batt insulation, it may eliminate air-tightness detailing issues like caulking, housewrap, vapor barrier, and joint taping joints while providing insulation, it can be very cost competitive with batt insulation.

Spray foam insulation, applied by experienced professionals using specialized equipment is great for new construction or retrofits and excels in filling irregularly shaped areas and around obstructions.

1/2-lb & 2-lb Spray Foam

We provide spray foam insulation services in 1/2 pound and 2 pound density foams. A 1/2-lb. foam that is fully cured and cut into a 1 cubic foot piece block would weigh 1/2-lb. Also, since R-Value of foam is additive if a foam has a per inch R-Value of 7, that foam when applied two inches thick has an R-Value of 14, with excellent sound damping characteristics.

This means that spray foam insulation provides prime contractors or homeowners with a truly cost effective method of energy efficient insulation for any residential or commercial project.

The Benefits Of Using Spray Applied Poly-Urethane Foam

* Product is sprayed in place as a liquid, cracks and seams are sure to be filled and sealed. The foam expands into a solid material that is fully adhered to virtually any substrate to form a 100% gap free airtight dry insulation contributing to an effective R-value by providing high levels of thermal resistance.
* It can be sprayed to any thickness to accommodate all R-value requirements.
* Air tight, does not allow air to move through it. Effectively stops thermal and conductive energy from occurring, which pushes the dew point to the outer edge of the structure. In turn, heating and cooling systems can work more efficiently, directly resulting in reduced energy bills. Which ultimately lowers environmental impact.
* Home is airtight and operates efficiently. Drastically reduces heat loss.
* Does not promote moisture or fungal growth.
* Draft and dust free living environment.
* Keeps its effective R-value through extreme cold temperatures.
* Protects heat drive into the house in hot temperatures.
* Adds structural rigidity and strength.
* Keeps the house quieter by high sound absorption, improves overall comfort and quality of the house.
* Completely healthy and environmentally safe. Improves indoor air quality.

JM Spray Foam Insulation

Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is an insulation innovation that provides superior performance and advanced energy efficiency. It’s so effective that thinner applications can rival and exceed the performance of traditional insulation products.

Combining two liquid components at installation creates cellular spray foam that expands and fully adheres to surfaces. The spray foam offers superior insulating properties and effective air isolation.

Spray foam insulation requires an ignition or thermal barrier after installation to comply with International Building Code requirements. All fire protective requirements detailed within Section 2603.4 of the IBC are mandatory.

No matter what climate you are building in or the level of performance required, Johns Manville has a complete line of spray foam insulation to help improve the energy efficiency, performance and comfort of a structure.

Closed-cell

Closed-cell spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is one of the most advanced insulation solutions available, providing nearly twice the R-value of open-cell foam per inch. The dense polyurethane foam insulation is extremely durable, expanding and fully adhering to surfaces, strengthening the structure of a home. It provides incredible thermal performance and can be installed in areas that would be inaccessible or difficult for other forms of insulation. It effectively isolates air currents and moisture, reducing the chance of mold or mildew and increasing the life of a home.

Closed-cell spray foam requires an ignition or thermal barrier after installation to comply with International Building Code requirements. All fire protective requirements detailed within Section 2603.4 of the IBC are mandatory.

Open-cell

Open-cell spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is low-density, nonstructural insulation. Its low-density allows for an incredible yield, offering an excellent value. The cellular structure of open-cell foam provides air isolation and versatile range of R-values, resulting in energy savings, improved indoor air quality and increased comfort. Thermal Protection/Barrier

JM Formaldehyde-Free™ Fibre Glass Insulation

Sensitive to growing concerns about indoor air quality and the need for environmentally responsible building products, Johns Manville has revolutionized the building insulation industry by introducing the only complete line
of fiber glass insulation made without formaldehyde. Why is that important? Because the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends limiting exposure to formaldehyde as much as possible, and the California
Air Resources Board, a division of the California EPA, recommends that homeowners, builders and architects use building materials and insulation made without formaldehyde when building a home or remodeling.
JM Formaldehyde-free™ insulation will not off-gas formaldehyde in the indoor environment, so it improves indoor air quality while delivering superior thermal and acoustical performance. In addition, because we’ve removed the formaldehyde, we’ve eliminated binder-related formaldehyde emissions during manufacturing; as a result, JM Formaldehyde-free™ fiber glass insulation plants are the only ones exempt from U.S. EPA Hazardous Air Pollutant regulations. Visit us at specJM.com for more information.

Protected from Mold and Mildew

Johns Manville MR® Faced insulation resists the growth of mold and mildew. We have treated the facing with an EPA-registered mold inhibitor to help protect it from the potential growth of fungi. The facing passes the stringent ASTM D2020 fungi test for paper and paperboard, and both the fiber glass insulation and the
facing pass the ASTM C1338 fungi test (molds and mildew are types of fungi).

JM Ignition Barrier (IB) Coating

JM Ignition Barrier (IB) Coating is designed for application over JM open and closed cell spray foam insulations to reduce heat transfer and surface burning in the event of a fire. This nontoxic, water-based intumescent coating is an ignition barrier that complies with International Building Codes and can be applied with rollers, brushes and conventional or airless spray equipment.
